Confused about the Medicare Changes Announced this week???
We have the answers!
1. CMS has extended the Special Election Period (SEP) to February 28, 2011 for MAPD and PDP enrollees who lost coverage due to plan non-renewal, a service area reduction (SAR) for the 2011 plan year, or a plan termination.
2. Impacted individuals may choose a new MAPD plan, opt for a Medicare Supplement and a stand-alone PDP, or remain on original Medicare and purchase a stand-alone PDP.
* Also, don't forget about the MADP that ends as of 2-14-2011!

All about the Medicare Advantage Disenrollment Period (MADP)
During the Medicare Advantage Disenrollment Period-MADP (which began January 1, 2011 and continues until February 14th of this year), Medicare Advantage policy holders are given a chance to DISENROLL from an Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug plan and enroll in a standalone Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) instead.
It's extremely IMPORTANT TO NOTE that those who decide to enroll in a standalone PDP during the Medicare Advantage Disenrollment Period will be automatically disenrolled from their current MAPD and will not have the option of enrolling in another Medicare Advantage Plan.
