Medicare Supplement Plan F and C Nominal Cost Sharing NOT to be Imposed as Part of Healthcare Reform

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, in a letter dated May 28 to the NAIC, indicated that HHS would heed the advice of the NAIC in regards to not implementing nominal cost sharing in Medicare Supplement Plan F and Plan C.  Health and Human Services Secretary, Kathleen Sebelius wrote in her letter to the NAIC:

“I value the NAIC’s expertise on Medigap and other health insurance issues and the strong partnership between NAIC and the U.S. Department Health and Human Services. This partnership has been instrumental in the effective implementation of numerous provisions of the Affordable Care Act,”
